Five For Friday - September 5th Readout

SPEAKER_00:

It's Five for Friday on September 5th. I create five articles every Friday for people interested in public sector operations in general and public procurement specifically. And from time to time, I record an audio companion, which is what you are listening to now. So, first, the National League of Cities spotlights a boot camp starting September 10th titled Grant Implementation Compliance and Management, which focuses on excellence in execution on federally funded infrastructure projects, including procurement, federal compliance, and streamlined grant reporting. Second, NASPO, the National Association of State Procurement Officials, recognizes up and comers with its new Emerging Leader Award. They announced two finalists with two to five years and experience who consistently inspire their teams to excel and improve processes. Do you know them? Check the link and see. Third, the Procurement Excellence Network highlights Pittsburgh's recent initiative to reimagine procurement as a tool for economic development. This work is associated with a large cohort of government employees that are working together to seek to improve and innovate in operations, and the write-up is worth your time. Fourth, GFOA, the Government Financial Officers Association, shares its August issue of the Government Finance Review, which is a pretty comprehensive document that is full of tips and topics for finance and operations staff who are focused on financial stewardship and trust in communities. And finally, Jamie Gracia writes about the procurement revolution hiding in plain sight, why AI agents are about to transform how we actually work, examining multiple use cases that he put together, and also some handy do and don't checklist. Good document and practical advice. And with that, have a happy Friday.
