Five For Friday - January 24th Readout

SPEAKER_00:

It's Five for Friday on January 24th. I curate out five things every Friday that are worth weekend reading time for people interested in public sector operations in general and public procurement specifically. And from time to time, I record an audio companion, which is what you are listening to now. So first, the Procurement Excellence Network shares a New York Times article on the impact of procurement on government efficiency initiatives. highlighting the value and need for procurement transformation as a driver of government efficiency, with some specific stories from a New York agency as the organizing story for the theme. Second, Government Technology explores how the new administration will impact state and local governments. The article provides several examples of pending shifts, as well as an inventory of the impact of executive actions on operations and funding. It's actually a good and timely list, and this will be an ongoing topic of interest in the future. Third, NASBO, which is the Budget Officers, highlights themes emerging from governors' state-of-the-state addresses, detailing priorities in workforce development, housing, behavioral health, and public infrastructure. I find these speeches are always a great indicator of trends to come. Fourth, the National League of Cities highlights the Local Infrastructure Hub, which is designed to help municipalities access federal funds for community infrastructure projects. The toolkit simplifies the application process, ensuring more cities can capitalize on available resources. And finally, NIGP shares a free webinar on January 29th at 2 p.m. Eastern. about managing your solicitation like a project manager with tools and techniques to drive complex sourcing events. I posted a quick graphic this week summarizing some of the benefits of working at Civic and the fact that we will be hiring this year with at least one or two pending fairly soon. So, new year, new you. Let me know if you'd like to talk. And with that, have a happy Friday.
