Five For Friday - January 10th Readout

SPEAKER_00:

It's Five for Friday on January 10th. I create out five things every Friday for people who are interested in public sector operations in general and public procurement specifically. And from time to time, I record an audio companion, which is what you are listening to now. So first, the National Procurement Institute wants you to know that the 2025 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Program Application is now available. It's an opportunity to showcase the organization's excellence in innovation, professionalism, productivity, and more. Applications must be submitted by May 15, 2025. Second, NIGP is highlighting Cara Daniels in their Profiles of Leadership series. Cara's Got some new information for you on navigating procurement relationships from a foundation of empathy and understanding. Third, Meredith Ward from Nacio shares a FedScoop article where several top acquisition agencies, including GSA, NASA, and the Defense Department, have presented a proposal to include the NICE workforce framework for cybersecurity, which details workforce knowledge and skill requirements to be used on federal IT and cybersecurity support contracts. Anytime something new is driven at the federal level, it inevitably rolls down to state So even if you're not in federal procurement, this is probably of interest to you. Fourth, the Procurement Excellence Network is highlighting a case study about the city of Long Beach that was a highlight in the GFOA Award of Excellence. And it is a nice piece that digs into how they work together to expand competitive outcomes and contracting opportunities for new business and to create a new human-focused and fun approach to procurement. Finally, NASPO highlights a recent episode in the Supply Chain Management Review Magazine with Daniel May, who is, of course, with NASPO, talking about building a talent pipeline through outreach and innovative approaches in talent development and unique apprenticeship opportunities. And lastly, and in bonus material, it is time for Capo. So I will be on, of course, the first conference trip of the year to Sacramento this weekend. So if you are attending Capo, which is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, regional show of the whole year, then please find us while you're there. And with that, have a happy Friday.
