Public Procurement Change Agents
The Power of Open Contracting: Introduction
In over 50 countries, the Open Contracting Partnership, OCP, is spearheading a movement towards transparent and accountable public contracting with a focus on collaboration across government, businesses, civil society, and technologists. OCP is bringing innovation to improve procurement processes and outcomes, and they operate as a nonprofit public charity. So one of the main elements of this mission is driving commitment to the transformative power of open data, a commitment to data-driven government, and adoption of the Open Contracting Data Standard. That standard enhances transparency and enables deeper analysis of contracting data. That allows the public to understand where their dollars go and to be active participants in priority setting. And they also regularly produce research and content on the value of openness in public contracting, and they build the case for open contract reforms across the globe. I will interview Catherine Frauscher, the Deputy Executive Director of OCP this week. She will provide a comprehensive overview of OCP's mission and its significance in driving change in public procurement. I'll ask her to delve into some real-life case studies that demonstrate the impact of open contracting initiatives in reducing costs, increasing competition, and improving service delivery. I'll also ask her to give some concrete examples of how OCP supports the establishment of these mechanisms and the challenges they are overcoming. Finally, she let me know they have a new exciting career opportunity for some to provide daily leadership for the operations here. So listen more and see if it sparks some interest for you. I do hope that you'll be part of this great discussion, either live on Wednesday at 12 EST or on demand right here on LinkedIn. And if you've never attended a LinkedIn live, Simply come to my profile page at that time and it will open up. There's also an event that you can register in and you'll be notified that way as well.
